EVA Board: Working Hard Behind the Scenes for EV Drivers

By John Higham

Much of the EVA Board of Directors' work may not be visible, but we've been actively advocating for EV drivers in crucial ways.

One of the big projects I’ve been involved with is a working group sponsored by Harvard’s Salata Institute, focused on improving DC Fast Charging. My role? Making sure the consumer’s voice is heard loud and clear.

One major outcome: we’ve pushed for auto manufacturers, charging infrastructure manufacturers, and charging networks to fully embrace the Plug & Charge standard. Imagine pulling up to any fast charger with any EV plugging in, and—boom!—charging starts automagically. No fumbling with apps, no digging for credit cards. Your accounts are stored in the car itself resulting in “one and done” plug-in and walkaway charging.

Today MIT & Harvard published recommendations to industry stakeholders that should be a roadmap for policymakers and industry alike.

This kind of progress takes time, but rest assured, your EVA Board is working hard to make EV ownership better for everyone. Stay tuned, and as always, keep charging forward!
